Episode #6. Getting strong & moving naturally with hypermobility & chronic illness & still being a Ninja!

You might be forgiven, when you look at today’s guest’s Instagram grid, for thinking she has superhuman strength and is obviously one of those lucky people who was born as a talented sports person. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth!

Shelby Copeland is truly tenacious and having had to overcome multiple hurdles, she is a shining example of what hard work, consistency, but particularly knowing your own body and working in tune with it, can do.

I really enjoyed our wide-ranging, empowering conversation that covered topics ranging from our common ground; natural movement coaching to hypermobility, parkour for seniors, training in tune with your menstrual cycle and, Shelby’s personal interest; Ninja training.

About this week’s guest:

Shelby Copeland came into natural movement as a mover first. Looking for new ways to train and move after dealing with overuse injuries and chronic pain, she discovered MovNat and was attracted to its progressive methodology, practicality, and rootedness in nature.

Shelby is a MovNat L3 certified trainer, a NASM certified personal trainer, a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist and Parkour Silver Coaching Specialist. Shelby teaches humans ages 0-100 years old through community partners such as the local library and the city parks and recreation department in her community. She is passionate about access to fitness, and she enjoys training people outside of traditional gym spaces in parks and the woods. Shelby hopes to equip people with strength and skills that will help their lives be richer, their confidence stronger, and their sense of play deeper. Her business is Force of Nature Movement and she lives in Madison, WI.

Moving Through the Feminine Seasons

More about your host, Wendy

Wendy (49) founded Reclaim Movement after a running injury at 40 turned into 4 years of chronic pain. In her search for answers and to reclaim her own movement again she discovered natural movement. The philosophy of training real life practical movements to be able to keep using them as we age, coupled with the benefit of using strengthening and mobilising whole-body movement patterns that are underused in today’s modern world made her realise she had found a way to move for life.

Wendy’s aim is to help people embrace a movement-rich life, at any age, to improve mobility, strength and confidence to keep moving well and doing the things they love for as long as they want.

MovNat Level 1 certified & Functional Range Conditioning certified, she coaches online group classes live & by replay in the Reclaim Movement membership as well as online and in-person private coaching in Oxford.
